Assistant Coach: James Madison University
James Madison Univ.-Josiah Jones, Assistant Coach
McFarland commented, "We're excited to have Josiah. He's young and just finished playing independent ball, so obviously he was a good player. He wants to coach and he wants to bring that energy that he had as a player into his career as a coach. Josiah has a lot of good playing experience and weight-training/conditioning experience that he'll be able to help us with this year."
Prior to JMU, Jones worked with Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, Missouri and recently wrapped up a professional stint with the Kansas City T-Bones in the independent Northern League. He will assist the Dukes with the outfielders and hitting while also coaching first base.
Jones led Blue Springs to a 16-6 overall record and a second-place finish in the Suburban Big Seven Conference, placing two players on the all-state team and seven on the all-conference squad. He also spent the spring working in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Summer Baseball League.
Collegiately, Jones competed for East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. He graduated with a bachelor of science in secondary education in 2006 with a minor in business marketing.
