Introduction

What better way to spend a week of your Summer break than on the beautiful campus of Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylania! US Fastpitch Camps is coming to this awesome site where players will have an incredible opportunity to train daily at the newly renovated softball fields of Shady Side Academy. Players will create lasting memories while being instructed by our professional staff. Join us for the best experience of your life!

Every player age 9-18 has the opportunity to take her game to the next level. With 30+ hours of professional instruction, each player will come work on the five tools of softball. Hitting, hitting for power, speed, throwing & fielding. More fastpitch softball in a week then you have ever done in your life!

CHECK OUT OUR ONE DAY HITTING AND PITCHING CAMPS! We will be conducting an extensive hitting and pitching camps on June 21st from 10:00am-1:00pm and 2:00pm-5:00pm for anyone wanting to take their hitting and pitching skills to the next level. We will cover every aspect of hitting and pitching and these camps are a great way to kick off the week. You can sign up for this option on the registration page.

Detailed Camp Description

Players receive:
•Up to 30+ hours of elite, professional instruction
•Opportunity to meet and learn from former pro players and collegiate stars
•Low player to coach ratio ( around 7 to 1)
•Position specific instruction with verbal assesment of skills throughout camp
•Camp T-shirt
4 nights stay at the dorms at Shady Side Academy
3 meals a day
Opportunity to develop life long friendships with players and staff while spending extra time with them at night
Transportation to and from fields and activities
Nightly activities
Supervision: Camp Counselors stay with players in facility with complete adult supervision, room checks, Hall monitoring etc.

What will I learn at this camp? As a player you will be evaluated by a professional eye and receive hands on, intense softball training. Our goal as a staff is to provide you with the tools to better your game, increase your knowledge, skill and confidence and assist in getting you to the next level of play and beyond.

•Stance, Balance and swing plane for hitting
•Mental preparation and Hitting Philosophy
•Hand-eye coordination drills
•Opposite field hitting
•Hitting with two strikes - Hitting Off-speed pitches
•Situational hitting including Bunting
•Base Running
•Infield play-corner play & middle infield play
•Outfield play - including throwing from the outfield
•Windmill Pitching mechanics
•Catcher Skills - receiving, blocking, throwing & more
•Daily scrimmage games

Equipment:
Each camper should wear comfortable workout clothing (t-shirt, shorts, sweat pants etc.) for each session. Additionally, campers should bring a glove, bat, helmet, kneepads, visor, and cleats. USFC will supply all necessary equipment for the clinic except the items listed above and/or catcher's gear. Be sure to mark all equipment so it can be easily identified.

As a student athlete, you can expect a complete, competitive softball camp experience while learning from and practicing with world-class coaches and players.

Whether you are a first-time softball player in need of the basics of pitching and hitting; or you are an elite college-bound athlete preparing for the tough college circuit, US Fastpitch Camps offers instruction for all levels of play - from the short game to the long ball, from mental toughness to conditioning.

IMPORTANT: please check your email regularly as this is our primary way we communicate. Any additional information that we need to convey as the camp draws closer will be passed on to you via the e-mail address that you supplied when you signed up for camp. Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.

Camp Check-in Information

Overnight players, not attending the hitting camp, should check in at the Shady Side Academy Dorms around 4:00pm on the 19th. Follow the signs to the check in location. Day Camp players should check in at the main softball diamond at Shady Side Academy by 8:00am on the morning of the 20th. Overnight campers attending the hitting camp please check in at the Dorms by 9:00am on the morning of July 19th. Overnight campers attending the pitching camp please check in at the Dorms by 1:00pm on July 19th.

Other Items to Bring:

  • Photo copy of the front & back of your health insurance card
  • Signed Medical Form & Waiver
  • Sun Block & SPF Lip balm (chapstick) - Bathing suit
  • Spending money - Calling Card
  • Toiletries - Bed Linens - Towel
  • Tennis shoes (or other comfortable shoes to wear after camp )Pants, shorts and shirts for nighttime activities

We will provide three meals a day for overnight players and lunch will be catered in the dining hall each day for both the day and overnight players.

Miscellaneous Information

What if I have to cancel a camp?
We do not offer refunds on canceled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection". We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date at any of our camps. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.

Camp Merchandise

All participants will receive a camp t-shirt.
USFC merchandise will be available for sale each day of camp.

We will be staying at the Shady Side Academy facility.

Airport Pickup / Dropoff Information

We do provide airport pick-up and drop-off at the Pittsburgh International Airport. You can sign up for this option on the registration page.

Attention Fly-In Players without parents (Players we are picking up from the airport): Players need to do their best to arrive before 4:00pm on July 19th. If you are attending the hitting camp please do your best to arrive before 7:30am so we can get you to camp on time. If you arrive later than 7:30am for hitting camp this is ok, it will just be a little tighter for us. If you are attending the Pitching camp please arrive before 11:00am. On the last day of camp, the camp will end at 2:00pm, so schedule your departure out of Pittsburgh sometime between 4:00pm and 6:00pm if possible, can be earlier if necessary. We would however prefer you to do your best in scheduling your return flight as close to the 4:00pm to 6:00pm time slot as possible.
