Detailed Camp Description

Camp Philosophy: The continued success of the Rice Baseball Camps may be largely attributed to the staff's commitment to the individual player. Through limited enrollment, low player/teacher ratios are maintained ensuring each camper the quality instruction to maximize development. Every effort will be made to instill in each participant the muscle memory necessary to habituate correct form with drill work and close supervision. The camps are under the direction of Wayne Graham and the Rice baseball staff. Instructors may include current and former Owl players and area high school coaches.

Parents/guardians are welcome to stay and watch.

What to Bring: Baseball cap, bat, cleats, tennis shoes for possible indoor work and catching gear if you are registered as a catcher for the pitching/catching camp.

Optional: Spending money for concessions (light snacks and drinks) and Rice Baseball merchandise.

Lunch: Lunch and/or lunch items are not available at concessions. You can pack a lunch or bring a snack to eat in between camps if you are attending more than one session.

Weather: In case of inclement weather, all camp activities will remain at Reckling Park in the indoor pitching and hitting facilities.

Please review your choice of camp(s) for accuracy before submitting final payment. Once payment has been submitted and the enrollment process is complete a $25.00 non-refundable service charge will be enacted against any refund requests through Friday, December 8, 2017. NO REFUNDS AFTER DECEMBER 8, 2017.

The best way to get to Reckling Park is to enter the Rice University campus via Entrance 8 at the intersection of University and Stockton Boulevards. Once on campus, there will be a road about 30 years from the entrance to your right next to the new Moody Center. Turn right down that road and it will take you in front of Reckling. Please follow that road until you reach an old tennis court located down the left-field line that has been converted into a parking lot. Camper pick-up and drop-off will take place in this parking lot, now called West Lot 6. Parking beyond drop-off and pick-up in this lot will not be allowed. You will be subject to ticketing/towing if you remain in this lot for the duration of camp.

If you wish to stay to watch camp and need to park, you have several options. You may park in West Lot 1 and/or the Moody Lot for $1 per 15 minutes or $12 max per day. Please note with this option that you will have to pay each time you exit and re-enter this lot.
